Robert B. Fowles

Director

Robert Fowles retired from full-time employment in January 2020 to devote himself to his entrepreneurial and philanthropic endeavors. In addition to being a co-founder and investor in two start-up companies in the Napa Valley, he is also the Chairman of the Napa Valley Vintners Grant Review Committee, which recommends the investments made each year in Napa Valley charities from the proceeds of the NVV fundraising events. In February 2021, Robert joined the Board of Directors of Cope Family Center, which provides parents with the education, resources and support they need to raise children who thrive.

From 2006 through 2019 Robert was the Chief Financial Officer for Opus One Winery, responsible for the accounting, financial planning, treasury, risk management, human resources, and information technology functions. During his tenure, the winery grew substantially and completed a 54,000 square foot expansion to its facility in Oakville, CA. In August 2017, Robert was recognized by the North Bay Business Journal as one of the top 15 CFOs in the Northern California Bay Area for his work at Opus One.

Prior to Opus One, Robert held positions as the CFO of various companies, including Spectrum Organic Products, Inc. and Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines. Robert is a Certified Public Accountant, a Chartered Global Management Accountant, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Connecticut.

“I am looking forward to assisting the NMRF Board with business and operational issues,” Robert said. “Dr. Bodor repaired my torn supraspinatus tendon in 2019, enabling me to avoid surgery. So, I’m another success story and love everything that both the NMRF and the Bodor Clinic are doing to further regenerative medicine and non-invasive therapies.”

Robert and his wife Linda have resided in the Napa Valley for over 20 years, and they are both active in their neighborhood association and the community at large. In his spare time, Robert enjoys tennis, traveling, reading and water sports.
