Michael Jackson was born in Leicester, England and received his BS degree from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
After graduate school, Mr. Jackson worked as an investment analyst on Wall Street and spent time as a portfolio manager before moving to San Francisco to form an investment partnership with Hambrecht and Quist in 1982. Subsequently, Mr. Jackson founded and ran a hedge fund management company before retiring in 2002.
His current focus is primarily on helping nonprofit organizations working in the areas of health care, human rights and women’s issues. Mr. Jackson and his wife Pepper Jackson are residents of Florida but have five children and nine grandchildren living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
